Registration for Art Bytes 2023- 2024 is NOW OPEN!

The competition is open to all primary, secondary and special schools based in the nine regions of England (North West, North East, Yorkshire and Humber, East Midlands, West Midlands, Greater London, East of England, South West and South East).

There are two eligible age groups for entries – Year 5 and Year 9 (Year 12 coming soon!) There is purposely no theme for the artwork entries to make it easier for you to fit it into your existing schemes of work.

To join Art Bytes is quick and easy. Complete the online sign up form below and wait for email confirmation. Your school will be invoiced for the entry fee (£195 + VAT) in January, then we ask for entries to be submitted by February half term. Taking part in Art Bytes also supports your Artsmark journey. Artsmark is the creative quality standard for schools and education settings, awarded by Arts Council England, recognising their commitment to high quality arts and cultural education. As an Artsmark partner, we can help you inspire children and young people to create, experience, and participate in great arts and culture.

We will keep in touch throughout the competition stages with regular updates and reminders by email. By submitting this form you are agreeing to:
- Pay the fee of £195 (per school per age group) on an annual basis when invoiced each January
- Photograph and send good high-resolution images of original 2D artwork from up to 30 students, (only one submission per child) with information i.e. title, dimensions, medium
- Advertise the competition internally and externally, and campaign for people to vote for their favourite works
- Invite and encourage shortlisted students and parents to attend the regional celebration event
- Allow all submitted images to be used in publicity and promotional materials
- Complete evaluation on behalf of the school
Art Bytes agrees to:
- Upload up to 30 works onto your school's own page on the Art Bytes website
- Provide participating schools with a platform to promote their own art department activities
- Organise a virtual exhibition of winning students work in our specially designed online gallery.
- Provide digital and printed marketing materials for schools including voting and exhibition flyers and posters
- Present certificates to all shortlisted artists
- Present prizes to the overall winners, and runners up as judged by an appropriate panel
- To market the competition and exhibition through press releases and social media
- To work with a variety of partners and supporters to raise the profile of the competition
- Respond to feedback and suggestions where possible to develop the programme

All pupil details included on your schools' webpage on Art Bytes site are decided by you. Depending on parent/guardians' permission sought by the school you can either include pupils' full names or one or both initials to identify them. Names included on the submission form will feature on the schools' webpage. The data is only stored during the competition year the school has entered. All pupil's entries you submit must be their own original artwork, created by that pupil and not substantially worked on by a teacher or parent/guardian, or created using AI. Any digital work must not copy or substantially contain another artists imagery or designs. Any uploaded work that does not adhere to these rules will be removed.

By registering for Art Bytes you are entering into an agreement to carry out the following tasks by the publicised deadlines.

Pay the fee of £195 (per school, per age group) when invoiced in January of the competition year. (New sign up is required every year you wish to take part.)

Your project coordinator will support you throughout the year and they will:

Keep you informed about tasks and deadlines with regular newsletters.

Provide you with clear details of the full process and how decisions are reached.

Liaise with you regarding your entries.

Support you with uploading work to the website.

Quality check all entries and ensure they are displayed correctly on your school page.

Guide you through the voting process and results.

Send you hints and tips throughout the year.

Promote the competition nationally.

Promote the competition and encourage votes.

Work closely with your region's cultural venue to plan a celebration event.

Source prizes for all regional and national winners.

Provide invites for celebration event.

Answer any queries thought the competition and be on hand to help.
