In a society where we need to invest in the building the cultural capital and develop a growth mindset in our students, Art Bytes provides an authentic arts experience for any students in Year 5 and Year 9.

Art Bytes doesn’t prescribe a theme which allows for you to embed the offer into your already existing curriculum and celebrate the outcome of your student’s creativity, in our bespoke virtual gallery.

Whatever your curriculum you have decided for the September term or the unit of work for your extra-curricular art programme, we give you an authentic outcome, beyond the school walls, that gives everyone in the school community reason to celebrate!

As it is a competition, striving for excellence and innovation by, with and for your students is vital, and we want this offer to give you the means to celebrate your student’s creativity nationally.

We are delighted to offer 30 students artworks per year level (Year 5 & Year 9) to be uploaded to the Art Bytes website, and through our public vote to find our shortlisted art works, we encourage schools, to strive for excellence through their teaching and learning practices. With developmental support offered by our partner venues, schools are encouraged to develop innovative curriculum links, skills and resources.

There is much scope by being involved in Art Bytes for children and young people to be actively involved beyond the creation of their artwork.

Art Bytes endeavours to support you to engage your students beyond the pure creative process and outcome, giving you scope to delve your students into leadership experience or ambassador roles, to bring Art Bytes to life in the school setting through public speaking or media campaigns and give reason for students talk enthusiastically about the concepts being learnt and the art work being created.

To develop a sense of belonging and ownership of Art Bytes, students can and should be encouraged to take on leadership roles.

From organising an exhibition of the artworks at school…to finding innovative ways to engage the school and community to vote for their favourite art work…to organising assemblies about Art Bytes… to writing newsletter articles about the process…to deciding on the theme/idea to explore through art…to organising a student photographer to photograph and upload the images…to organising an exhibition of the works and creative process…to organising a silent auction of the art works to raise money for the art department. The options are endless and we can support you with resources and logistics!

Art Bytes Ambassadors are professionals who understand the importance of creativity and share their experiences in short videos. Art Bytes Ambassadors are there to provide inspiration and to engage students in learning about creative careers.

The public vote decides the winning art work from each school, which will appear in the bespoke virtual gallery. This public vote encourages the school community to positively engage with the students and support their creative process working towards a goal. Whilst the competition is for Year 5 and Year 9, the experience of being involved in Art Bytes, generates an inclusive conversation, by all members of the school community about students’ creativity.

We are very proud to be partnering with our cultural venues across all regions of England, offering developmental support to schools involved in Art Bytes.

We are delighted to connect you with resourses, ideas and inspiration for your students as well as CPD opportunities. Sharing good practice and making connections through our contacts at the bridge organisations, LCEPs and arts led organisations, is of utmost importance.

With our vast network of contacts, we want to provide not only an opportunity to celebrate visual arts nationally, but establish long-lasting partnerships with schools.
