“Together we learn, together we achieve.”
“Wistaston Academy is clearly committed to the arts and understands their value in successfully engaging and inspiring young people.” (Arts Council England Platinum Award, February 2026)
We are a two-form entry school in Crewe, Cheshire, and are passionate about providing our children with authentic, creative experiences at every opportunity. We are dedicated to raising our students’ artistic aspirations and to leading them on to a love of life-long learning. We are aware that all learning is fuelled and enhanced through the vehicles of art, drama, dance and music and strive to celebrate our pupils’ achievements.
Some of our Year 5s have taken inspiration from artist Georgia O’Keeffe, juxtaposing monochrome skull drawings with brightly coloured floral paintings. They added elements of dribbled colour, reflecting the style of Agnes Cecile. Others in our group chose inspirational figures from Black History month as their focus for a mixed-media piece, either Stormzy, Benjamin Zephaniah, Margaret Busby or Edward Enninful. Year 5 children in our SEND Unit looked at the work of Jim Dine and enjoyed creating textured acrylic and oil pastel heart paintings.
