We are a two-form entry school in Crewe, Cheshire, and are passionate about providing our children with authentic, creative experiences at every opportunity. We are dedicated to raising our students’ artistic aspirations and to leading them on to a love of life-long learning. We are aware that all learning is fuelled and enhanced through the vehicles of art, drama, dance and music and strive to celebrate our pupils’ achievements.
Our Year 5s have been inspired by the work of artist Agnes Cecile and have delved into the emotive portrayal of her subjects. We considered which emotions we would like to convey in our own self-portraits, first beginning with linear drawings, then developing our pieces with shading using pencils and pens. We experimented with colour bleeding using tissue paper and overworked this with inks, emulating Cecile’s style.
