Uckfield College is an 11 - 18 comprehensive college in the heart of East Sussex.
Art and Photography are very popular and 140 students every year choose to study either or both at GCSE, that is around 50% of our cohort. Students follow a skills based curriculum and then in Years 10 and 11 start to work as more independent artists. In Year 9 the students study drawing and painting alongside digital art, photography, sculpture and printmaking. The work submitted has all been produced in the past four months. Students have been exploring architecture, learning about perspective and artists and photographers who use this as their inspiration. Many of the studies show lots of dynamic perspective around the school buildings, and some focus on more decorative elements in older architecture. Students are now studying painting and some initial responses to still life have been shown, focusing on colour and placing objects on a reflective surface, studying the artist Kim Blair.
