We are part of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Multi Academy Trust – offering a one form entry school for children 4-11 years of age, located within the beautiful town of Stamford. At St. Augustine’s, our vision is to provide the highest quality education within a Catholic ethos. As the only Catholic primary school in Stamford, we take pride in our inclusive approach and welcome children from all faith backgrounds and none. Through daily practice of reflection, we help each child to encounter Christ, developing their own unique gifts and talents, supporting them to be confident lifelong learners and responsible citizens who make a positive contribution to society.
At Saint Augustine’s we aim to provide high-quality art education that engages, inspires and challenges pupils, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to experiment, invent and create their own works of arts. We believe that art stimulates creativity, imagination and inventiveness. We believe that art gives our pupils the knowledge, skills and concepts necessary for them to express responses to ideas and experiences. It fires their imagination. As they progress, our pupils will be able to think critically and develop a more rigorous understanding of art and design, understanding how art and design both reflect and shape our history, and contribute to the culture, creativity and wealth of our nation.
During this term’s art we began with exploring differences between portraits and self portraits, before moving on to learning skills and techniques needed to create our own pieces of art. Some children haven chosen to share their continuous line portraits including words to celebrate their uniqueness. Whereas other children have chosen to share their mixed media portraits.
