Parsonage Farm has worked hard over recent years to embed arts and culture into the philosophy of the school. Our school ethos, ‘where children are valued and success is recognised’, is true across the curriculum. We strive to deliver innovative lessons taught by confident teachers who have worked together to create a broad, rich and engaging curriculum.
We aim to provide children with opportunities to be creative, explore ideas, pursue interests, develop skills and build confidence through a range of experiences, made available to all children. The KS1 and KS2 arts lessons are planned to meet the requirements of the National Curriculum.
Our art lessons come from the Plan Bee scheme and are adapted by teachers to suit the needs of their class. Each year group completes 3 topics per year – some year groups teach a topic over a term. Topics in KS2 have covered Gustav Klimt, Frida Khalo and Andy Warhol to KS1 that have covered Henri Rousseau, Monet and Aboriginal art. All topics cover a range of medium including sculpture, painting and self portraits to expose them to all forms of art!
